Korte Elementary and Nowlin Middle Schools in Independence were on lockdown this afternoon while police searched for the suspects in an armed burglary.
Officers were searching for two people, who tried to break into a home in the 2600 block of S. Overton.
According to police the suspects ditched their car outside the house and were trying to get away on foot.
