Android 4.3 has been released and the update ready to be installed.

This is where you check if you turned off your automatic check

I wanted to find out what the benefits are before I installed. I researched and here is what I found out.

Size of update

In addition to security enhancements, performance enhancements, and bug fixes

Android 4.3 improvements are:

  • OpenGL ES 3.0 support, aka better game graphics
  • Better camera interface
  • 4K resolution support
  • Dial pad auto-complete in the Phone app
  • Reworked Photo Sphere
  • Bluetooth Low Energy support.
  • Bluetooth Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) 1.3 support
  • Filesystem write performance improvement by running fstrim command while device is idle
  • Restricted access mode for new user profiles
  • Added better application permissions controls
  • Background Wi-Fi location still runs even when Wi-Fi is turned off (may not be a good thing)
  • Better language support including right-to-left (RTL) languages.
  • Clock in the status bar disappears if clock is selected on the lockscreen
  • For HTC devices, an improved sense is included also.
